Park Hotel, Bled

Enjoying a lovely lakeside location in the resort centre, the popular 4* Hotel Park was fully refurbished in 2020 at a cost of around €8m, complete with a new and unique appearance to the indoor thermal pool on the upper floor of the hotel, which offers breathtaking views of Lake Bled.

Facilities include an elegant café-restaurant and wellness centre. The water fountain in the hotel lobby is supplied with natural Alpine drinking water for guests to fill up their own bottles. The 217 guest rooms are all en-suite and feature a balcony, hairdryer, safe and WiFi. There is a lift to all floors. Supplement applies for lakeview rooms.

Itinerary

DAY 1 - Travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais, then continue through France to your overnight hotel, Mercure Forbach near the German border. Bed & breakfast.

DAY 2 - After breakfast, sit back and enjoy the ride through Southern Germany today before crossing the border into Austria for your overnight stay in Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart. Your hotel this evening is the Holiday Inn Salzburg City which is well located just a mile from heart of the city. Dinner is included at the hotel tonight. Dinner, bed & breakfast.

DAY 3 - There will be time this morning to enjoy some leisure time in lovely Salzburg, the charming Baroque city with its magnificent Hohensalzburg Fortress, church steeples and impressive buildings. Famous fo rbeing the backdrop to 'The Sound of Music', who can resist dancing through the glorious Mrabell gardens with its ornate fountains? Cross into Slovenia later today and check into the hotel to relax for 5 nights in beautiful Bled. Dinner, bed & breakfast.

DAY 4 - 7 - With four full days in Slovenia, a relaxed programme of included and optional excursions as well as plenty of free time awaits. Dinner, bed & breakfast.

INCLUDED EXCURSIONS
Half day Bled Explorer 
With a local guide, you will get to know the charming town of Bled on a gentle walking tour. With its impossibly picturesque lake setting, it really is as pretty in real life! Enjoy a gentle ride on a traditional gondola style 'pletna' boat to the romantic little island in the middle of the lake with its lovely Baroque church (entrance included). Continue for a visit to the cliff top Bled castle perched 100m above the lake with magnificent views of the region. May be operated by a local coach. (NB there are a lot of steps at both the castle, the pletna boats and the church).

Ljubljana - Slovenia's Capital
Spend the day in lovely Ljubljana, just a short drive from Bled. The charming capital has loads of appeal with its elegant ambience, compact pedestrianised centre, famous Dragon Bridge and commanding medieval castle (accessible by foot or funicular). Enjoy an optional city tour with a local guide with plenty of time left for shopping and exploring

Villach & Kranjska Gora
Head into Austria to Villach, a charming town on the River Drau and Carinthia's second largest town The Italian influence is strong here and there are many squares to sit and watch the world go by and savour a touch of la dolce vita. Back into Slovenia for a blast of mountain air with a visit to Slovenia's largest and most popular Alpine resort of Kranjska Gora, nestling beneath the jagged Prisojnik mountains surrounded by scenic landscapes

OPTIONAL EXCURSION
Full Day to Postojna Caves & Lipica Stud Farm 
An early start today takes you to the extraordinary Postojna Caves. A guided tour on foot and by special electric train takes you through one of the largest and most beautiful cave systems in the world full of fascinating rock formations. Continue to Lipica, home to the famous Lipizzaner white stallions, where you will enjoy a tour of the stud farm and a performance of these impressive beasts (subject to local changes). 

DAY 8 - Bid farewell to charming Slovenia. Today is a big travel day back across Europe with an overnight stop in Germany at the Best Western Hotel Rastatt. Bed & breakfast.

DAY 9 - An early start takes you back to Calais and the return ferry crossing to Dover, arriving home during the evening.
