Our base just over the Scottish border is the home of the world famous Blacksmiths shop in Gretna. It was the earliest destination for runaway couples fleeing to marry. Join this lovely break where you will fall under the spell of the beauty and enthralling history of the Scottish borders. New for 2017 we visit the popular Lake District towns of Cockermouth and Keswick.

Gretna Hall Hotel, Gretna Green
This hotel is a modern contemporary style hotel set in 10 acres of gardens situated next to the Blacksmiths Courtyard. Bedrooms have tea/coffee facilities and telephone. The hotel has a lift.


Day 1 - From your chosen joining point your feeder vehicle will take you to the designated interchange point where your holiday begins. After joining your holiday coach, head to Gretna for 4 nights with dinner, bed & breakfast.

Days 2- 4 - At leisure in Gretna with 2 included excursions.

Melrose, Dryburgh Abbey, Peebles & Moffat
Scenic drive via the Grey Mares Tail Waterfall as eulogised by Sir Walter Scott, to Melrose with its fine Abbey. Follow the dramatic River Tweed to Dryburgh Abbey, the burial place of Sir Walter Scott, to the Ancient and Royal Burgh of Peebles and onto Moffat.

Northern Lake District - Cockermouth & Keswick
The inspiration of artists, writers and poets, the area is famed for its magnificent scenery. History, culture and shopping abound in Cockermouth, all within an easy walk. Keswick nestles between the Skiddaw Mountains and Derwentwater Lake.

Edinburgh for the Day
Head to Scotland's Capital for a guided tour of this vibrant and historical city - from Arthurs Seat to Holyrood Palace.

Day 5 - Retrace your steps back to head home to your local joining points.
