      Celtic Boats & Trains
Celtic Boats & Trains A splendid mile long beach set at the foot of beautiful cliff scenery

Straddling the Dublin-Wicklow border, the seaside town of Bray, with its proximity to Dublin and scenic location, is, unsurprisingly, a popular destination for tourists and day-trippers from the capital. A kind of 'Irish Brighton', it is, in fact, a rather gentle resort with a splendid mile long beach set at the foot of beautiful cliff scenery and is home to some of Ireland's finest restaurants, shops and pubs.  There is a magnificent Cliff Walk directly from Bray to Greystones, about 7km long and suitable for all abilities. This tour includes a great train journey along the coast to Malahide as well as a scenic cruise on the River Liffey and just when you thought it was all over, we have thrown in a lovely ride on the Welsh Highland Railway to round off your trip in style!

  • Hotel for 4 nights with breakfast and dinner
  • Welcome drink on arrival and Irish coffee on last night
  • Overnight hotel for 2 nights with dinner and breakfast
  • Return DART train Bray - Malahide with local guide
  • Tea and scones in Malahide
  • Entrance to Powerscourt Gardens
  • River Liffey Boat Trip
  • Welsh Highland Railway Caernarfon - Beddgelert

The Esplanade Hotel is a privately owned, traditional Victorian hotel, overlooking Bray Promenade. It is just a few minutes' walk from Seafront Park as well as the railway station. There is a relaxed, modern restaurant with lovely beach views as well as a welcoming bar. The bright bedrooms are simply furnished and offer TV, hairdryer and tea / coffee making. There is a lift to some rooms.

Day 1 - From your chosen joining point your feeder vehicle will take you to your designated interchange point where your holiday begins. After joining your luxury coach, journey westwards to Wales with ample stops for refreshments before arriving at your overnight hotel in North Wales where an evening meal is included. Dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 2 - Enjoy a leisurely start and a full Welsh breakfast before heading to Holyhead for the early afternoon crossing to Dublin. Arrive in Ireland late afternoon for the short drive to Bray to check in to your holiday hotel with a welcome drink on arrival. Dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 3 - 5 At leisure in Bray with three included excursions. There is entertainment on two nights. Dinner, bed and breakfast.

DART to Malahide
Take the DART train north this morning with a local guide on board along the beautiful coastline from Bray, round Dublin Bay to Malahide. A handsome seaside town, Malahide has a bustling marina with a pleasant promenade and plenty of cafes and shops. It is also well known for its 800 year old castle, one of the oldest in Ireland and Talbot Botanic Gardens (entrance not included). Tea and scones await you in Malahide with free time before DART-ing back to Bray.

Powerscourt House and Gardens
Wicklow's most popular attraction is this magnificent estate at the heart of which is a grand 68-room Palladian mansion, completed in 1741 for the 1st Viscount Powerscourt. But it is the formal gardens that are the real draw here combined with the absolutely stunning views famed by the gentle beauty of the Wicklow Mountains. Voted No. 3 in National Geographic's Top 10 Gardens of the World, Powerscourt offers 47 acres of sublime gardens to explore with cascading terraces, formal landscapes, pavilions, ornamental lakes, secret hollows and fine tree-lined arbors.

Dublin for the Day with Liffey River Cruise
Enjoy a day in Dublin to explore Ireland's intimate little capital with its affable mix of heritage and hedonism. A chance to explore at leisure its Georgian squares with impressive townhouses, bustling Grafton Street, St Stephen's Green, Trinity College with its glorious Book of Kells and the famous Ha'Penny Bridge over the Liffey. No visit is complete without experiencing Dubliners at their most convivial in one of the city's many pubs, perhaps in lively Temple Bar. A one hour river cruise is included today so you can see Dublin from a completely different perspective.

Day 6 - Early start today with a 'grab & go' breakfast to catch the early ferry from Dublin back to Holyhead. From here it is a short drive to Caernarfon where you will have time at leisure before boarding the charming Welsh Highland Railway to Beddgelert arriving mid-afternoon where your coach will be waiting to take you to your overnight hotel. Dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 7 - Head home today with ample stops for refreshments. Continue back to your local joining points arriving back mid/late evening.
