4* Maritim Berghotel Braunlage
Set amidst forested hills and river valleys, this elegant 4* hotel enjoys a prime location at the foot of the Wurmberg (971m) on the edge of the Harz National Park. Walks from the hotel take you into the centre of Braunlage village and to the Wurmberg cable car. The hotel offers large indoor and outdoor pools (some steps), sauna, beauty treatments (additional cost), restaurant and panoramic 10th floor bar. There are over 300 bedrooms all with minibar, hairdryer, free WiFi and either a balcony or terrace.

Day 1 - After joining your holiday coach, travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. Then continue into Germany for your overnight stop in the Dortmund area. Bed & Breakfast.

Day 2 - Travel across the Sauerland region and into 'Dambuster Country' stopping to see the famous Mohne Dam immortalised in the daring WWII bombing raid. Continue on to Braunlage on the edge of the Harz National Park for your 4-night stay. Enjoy a welcome drink, dinner, bed & breakfast.

Day 3 - A day to discover Imperial Goslar, the capital of the Harz Mountains, with its beautiful medieval Altstadt. An introductory guided walking tour will ensure you don't miss any of the main sights, in particular the wonderfully ornate ceiling in the Town Hall and the animated figures of the town Glockenspiel. You will then have time to explore gorgeous Goslar at your leisure. Dinner, bed & breakfast.

Day 4 - Drive this morning to charming Wernigerode, a colourful medieval town, unscathed by the ravages of WWII, full of beautifully preserved squares, pretty half-timbered houses and a romantic 12th century ducal castle perched high above the old town. Plenty of time to explore before today's highlight - an unforgettable journey on the 'Harzquerbahn'. The steam locomotive climbs up to Drei Annen Hohne and then across high plateaus to Benneckenstein where your coach awaits to take you back to the hotel. Dinner, bed & breakfast.

Day 5 - Start the day in picture-perfect Quedlinburg with its spectacularly intact Altstadt, restored to perfection since becoming a UNESCO World Heritage listed site in 1994. There will be a guided walking tour through the town's cobbled streets and squares with time for individual sightseeing before re-joining the coach for the short drive to Gernrode. Here you enjoy the second of the scenic steam railway journeys to the spa town of Alexisbad on the Selketalbahn (Selke Valley Railway), widely regarded as one of the most romantic of all the lines within the Harz network. Transfer back to the hotel for dinner, bed & breakfast.

Day 6 - Travel back through Germany today towards the Netherlands for the final overnight. Bed & breakfast.

Day 7 - After breakfast, travel back through France to Calais for the return to England.
