DAY 1 - From your chosen joining point your feeder vehicle will take you to the designated interchange point where your holiday begins. After joining your holiday coach, you will travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. A moving visit will be made to Lijssenthoek, which with just under 10,000 burials, is the second largest Commonwealth cemetery. Being some 20km from Ypres and on a railway line, Lijsssenthoek was in a good strategic position to set up a medical centre and casualty clearing stations and today, the visitor centre offers in-depth information on casualty care. Continue to your centrally located Ypres hotel where a welcome dinner awaits. Dinner, bed & breakfast.
DAY 2 - Your guided tour today will take you to Essex Farm Cemetery which features a memorial to Major John McCrae who is believed to have composed his famous poem 'In Flanders Fields' here. Continue via Langemarck German Cemetery to the Canadian memorial at Saint Julien in the area of 1915 large-scale German gas attack. Time to reflect at Tyne Cot, the largest Commonwealth military cemetery in the world with views from the visitor centre over the battlefields towards Ypres. With a convenient stop for lunch mid-day you will also see Polygon Wood at Zonnebeke, Black Watch Corner, the Passchendaele Museum as well as visit the Canadian memorial in the village of Crest Farm where the Canadians captured the high ground in the horror of mid November 2017. DAY 3 - Today's visits include the Irish Peace Park at Messines; Hill 60, an invaluable vantage point to view the wider battlefield; Hellfire Corner, an important and constantly observed route junction; Hooge Crater - the crater, caused by a British mine in 1916, in symbolic form lies at the entrance to Hooge Crater Cemetery with its nearly 6,000 war graves including many Australians. Free time in Ypres to visit the In Flanders Field Museum or enjoy a walking tour of the town with your guide to include the Menin Gate, ramparts and reservoir cemetery. Attend the 8pm Last Post ceremony which takes place every evening at the Menin Gate. Bed & breakfast.
DAY 4 - After a relaxed breakfast, return to Calais to cross the Channel back to Dover and the journey home.
