DAY 1 - After joining your holiday coach, travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. Continue via the auto-routes of France to your base in Blois. Porterage is included. Bed & breakfast.
DAY 2 - 4 - At leisure in Blois with two included excursions. Bed & breakfast.
You will have a day to explore Blois itself - an utterly charming royal town, full of cobbled streets, paved squares, cafes and restaurants plus the gothic Cathedral, towering over the old town and the historic Château Royal de Blois, former palace and home to several French kings and queens (entrance not included).
Chaumont & Amboise
Enjoy a visit to the romantic Renaissance castle of Château de Chaumont, set in stunning landscaped grounds with remarkable views over the Loire Valley. The impressive gardens are a wonder to behold and every year visitors flock to the 'Festival des Jardins', a garden festival with up to 30 themed gardens, created by different landscape designers and artists bringing the château surrounds to life with colour and fragrance (entrance to the Château and gardens included). Continue along the Loire to the elegant town of Amboise with its own royal Château, which is also the final resting place of Leonardo do Vinci.
Cheverny with Wine Tasting
The wonderful Château de Cheverny has been home to the same family for more than six centuries (entrance to the house and gardens included). It exudes an intimate charm and is one of the few fully furnished châteaux in the Loire Valley. The château is the inspiration behind Hergé's Marlinspike Hall as featured in the famous Tintin series (separate entrance to this exhibition not included). Cheverny is also well known for its huge pack of 100 hunting hounds who reside in the kennels. The visit to the château is followed by a tasting of some of delicious wines for which the Loire region has gained such an excellent reputation.
DAY 5 - After breakfast, travel back to Calais for the return Channel crossing and the journey home.
