Chester & Liverpool - A Tale of Two Cities
Chester & Liverpool - A Tale of Two Cities One of England’s best preserved medieval cities...

Situated on the picturesque River Dee and surrounded by a two mile ring of Roman Walls, Chester is a medieval city and a top coach holiday destination, boasting the largest Roman amphitheatre in Britain. Famed for its beautiful black and white Tudor buildings and unique 'rows' where the picturesque galleries run above the central shops, the most prominent buildings in the city centre are the town hall and cathedral. You can't go wrong when choosing Chester with plenty to see and do. The city offers a large selection of bars, restaurants, entertainment and plenty more to explore. If you fancy a bit of retail therapy you can enjoy the many delightful shops.

This tour also includes a visit to Liverpool, not only famous as the birthplace of the Beatles but is in the Guinness Book of Records as the official World Capital of Pop. With the largest collection of museums and galleries anywhere outside of the Capital, Liverpool's culture and heritage are at the very heart of the city.

Medieval Chester
Chester boasts the original city walls, a complete circuit of walls (sections of which date back to Roman times) that ring its picturesque shopping streets and Norman Cathedral. Visit the Phoenix Tower also known as the King Charles Tower to commemorate the events of September 1645, when, during the English Civil War, King Charles I stood on the roof and witnessed the rout of his army by Parliamentary forces after the battle of Rowton Moor. You have a complete free day to explore the city at leisure.

Liverpool is bursting with things for people of any age to enjoy. A place full of history and of course the place where the world famous Beatles started their career. Why not visit one of the finest art galleries in Europe? The Walker Art Gallery is home to renaissance masterpieces, Tudor portraits and one of the very best collections of Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite art in the whole of the UK. For over 130 years it has housed Liverpool's most outstanding art collections but many of the most important works have been on display in the city for an impressive 200 years. Liverpool also has a superb waterfront area based around the Albert Dock where you will find shops, restaurants, museums and cafes to name a few. Don't forget also to board one of the legendary Mersey Ferries and take the 'Ferry 'Cross the Mersey'. The waterfront also allows for views of the famous Liver building along with other iconic waterfront buildings with a famous past.

Day 4 - This morning your homeward journey starts and with comfort breaks en route arrival back at interchange will be mid afternoon.
