DAY 3 - DAY 6 - At leisure in Diano Marina with one included excursion and two optional excursions.
Alassio & Savona
Take the scenic drive along the Ligurian coastline to one of its most elegant resorts, Alassio. This has been a preferred choice of destination for travellers since the 18th century, attracted by its 4 kilometres of fine sandy beach which slopes gently into the sea. Continue to round the coast to Savona and take a walk around the inner harbour with its juxtaposition of expensive yachts and old fashioned fishing boats. The town has a lovely medieval centre, historic fortress and its very own Sistine Chapel (erected by Pope Sixtus IV who was born in Savona).
Monaco & Monte Carlo
Visit legendary Monaco, spectacularly nestled between the mountains and the Med. Vibrant Monte Carlo is the epitome of glamour and extravagance with its pretty Old Town and famous Grimaldi Palace, residence of Prince Ranier. Enjoy a little bit of Monte Carlo magic, just like the world's rich and famous, and soak up the atmosphere, marvel at the mega yachts crammed in the marina and imagine the drama at the F1 racetrack. You then visit the most important 'Parfumerie' in the South of France to discover the secrets of the perfume industry.
San Remo & Ventimiglia
Ventimiglia is on the edge of Italy with a character unlike any other Riviera town, combining tradition with an eclectic sense of the new. There is a daily indoor fruit and vegetable market and the 'lungomare' (promenade) is a wonderful stretch of coast road with many cafes serving wonderful Italian ice-cream. Just along the coast is San Remo, Italy's own Monte Carlo with its extravagant villas, plenty of Riviera-style grandeur and lovely, colourful flowers.
DAY 7 - Today it's farewell to Italy as you return northwards to the final stop in France. Bed & breakfast.
LAST DAY - After breakfast, travel back through France to Calais for the return to England.
