Wine Tasting & Yellow Train of the Pyrenees
A local guide will introduce you to the medieval walled city of Thuir, in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Thuir lies at the heart of the local wine growing industry and is known for its production of Byrrh, a wine based aperitif. There will be an opportunity to sample this local delicacy before heading on to the impeccably preserved walled town of Villefranche. Here you board the historic metre-gauge electric railway, 'le Petit Train Jeune', for one of the great railway journeys of the world. (NB carriages may be open depending on the weather). Hugging the sides of the deep valley, the spectacular line winds upwards between forests and chasms, through rocky, mountainous scenery to Mont Louis where the coach will be waiting to take you back to the hotel.
Red Train of the Pyrenees
Affectionately known as the Red Train for its bright red and white carriages, the Train du Pays Cathere et du Fenouilledes starts its panoramic journey in Rivesaltes where you will board with a local guide. From here the TPCF slowly climbs for 60km passing vineyards and castles to Axat. (NB Carriages may be open depending on the weather). There will time for a spot of lunch before the coach drives you back to the hotel.
