DAY 1 - From your chosen joining point your feeder vehicle will take you to the designated interchange point where your holiday begins. After joining your holiday coach, you will travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. Continue via the autoroute to arrive in Reims late afternoon. Bed and breakfast.
DAY 2 - After a leisurely breakfast, you will depart for Epernay, home to many of the world's most celebrated Champagne houses.
Visit to Mercier Champagne Cellars
During the hour long visit, you will tour part of the amazing 18km cellar network 30m underground on a laser-guided 'train' and get an insight into the traditions and methods of Champagne production. The unique décor and magnificent heritage of the atmospheric cellars never fail to impress and the tour will finish with the opportunity to sample a flute of Mercier Brut.
Return to Reims for an afternoon at leisure to explore the city, meticulously restored after WWI and again after WWII. The gargantuan 13th century cathedral (entry FOC) where French kings were crowned for centuries, dominates the city centre and you will find the Tourist Information Office right next door. There are several excellent museums including the Fine Arts Museum (small entrance fee applies) with its outstanding collection of European art from the 16th to 20th centuries as well as the easily missed Musée de la Reddition (small entrance fee applies), the site of Germany's surrender in 1945. You could also dive into Les Halles du Boulingrin, the city's temple to fruit, vegetables, olive oil and wine (markets are held on Saturdays 6am-2pm). Dine at leisure in the city this evening. Bed and Breakfast
DAY 3 - Today you head back to Calais after a relaxed breakfast. Time permitting, a stop will be made at a local hypermarket before embarking the ferry for the return Channel crossing and then the journey home.
