Italian Riviera & Lemon Festival Magnificent Cote D’Azur

The charming town of Menton is set on the magnificent Cote D’Azur close to the Italian/French border and is host, to the world renowned, annual Lemon Festival. For nearly two weeks every year, the town’s streets are transformed as they are taken over by bands, acrobats and giants made from citrus fruit. Fruity floats parade through the streets and giant citrus decorations are displayed in the town’s gardens. Our holiday base is Diano Marina.

      Hotel

Hotel Nettuno
This family run three star hotel occupies an elevated position close to the beach, promenade and town centre. It has a lounge bar and restaurant.

Accommodation is split between two buildings and all rooms have tea/coffee making facilities and TV

NB: As from June 2012, the Italian Government has imposed a new tourist tax which has to be paid locally at the hotel, in cash, by all visitors. Therefore, we must advise any customer booking a holiday staying in Italy that they are likely to be charged an additional charge, on arrival at the hotel, of approximately €1 per person, per night. This charge will vary as it is set by the local council.

      Itinerary

FRIDAY - From your chosen joining point our feeder vehicle will take you to our designated interchange point where your holiday begins. After joining your holiday coach, we make our way to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. We then continue via the auto-routes of France en-route to our overnight hotel in Central France.

SATURDAY - Departing after breakfast we enjoy a day of ever changing scenery as we continue our journey southwards into Italy to our resort of Diano Marina.

SUNDAY - WEDNESDAY - At leisure in Diano Marina with TWO INCLUDED excursions.
With fine sandy beaches, Diano Marina lies in a position sheltered by hills covered with olive trees, which gently slope down to the sea.

INCLUDED EXCURSIONS:

Menton Lemon Festival - Sunday Parade
We travel along the Cote D'Azur for your visit to the Menton Lemon Festival with entrance to the parade included. Every year for two weeks in the middle of February, the quiet, elegant town of Menton, on the French Riviera, literally bursts into life with zest and colour for the "Fete du Citron" carnival. Fruity floats depicting everything from horses, dinosaurs, elephants to Buddhas parade down the Promenade du Soleil for Sunday's Parade of Golden Fruit. We have a full day in the town before returning to our hotel for our evening meal.

Alassio
On our half day excursion, we take the scenic drive along the Ligurian coastline, we visit one of its most delightful resorts, Alassio. This has been a preferred choice of destination for travellers since the 18th century, attracted by its 4 kilometres of fine sandy beach.

OPTIONAL EXCURSION:

Monaco & Monte Carlo:

We visit the Principality of Monaco with its attractive Old Town and Grimaldi Palace, residence of Prince Rainier. We continue to Monte Carlo to enjoy the sights and atmosphere of this tax haven where you can marvel at the playboys' yachts moored in the harbour and savour the sights of the F1 racetrack. We then visit the most important 'Parfumerie' in the South of France, where during a guided visit, the secrets of the perfume industry will be revealed.

THURSDAY - Today it's farewell to Italy as we return northwards to our final stop in France.

FRIDAY - After breakfast, we travel back through France to Calais for our return to England.
