DAY 1: After joining your holiday coach, we make our way to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. We then continue via the auto-routes of France, Belgium and Germany and onto our hotel in Remagen.
DAYS 2 & 3: At leisure in Remagen with TWO INCLUDED excursions.
Remagen is probably best remembered for the fierce battle during WW11 fought over the Rhine River crossing here. However, there is plenty to see and do, set as it is, on the riverside offering superb views, downriver, of Castle Marienfels, the mountain range Siebengebirge and the rock massif Erpeler Ley.
Cochem Christmas Market:
We follow the course of the Moselle River passing many picturesque villages before arriving at Cochem, a 16th century town where time seems to have stood still. Picture-postcard Cochem has a fantastic collection of half-timbered houses, a fairy-tale castle, set on a vine-clad hill, and a pleasant riverside promenade. The Cochem Christmas Market is just as beautiful as the town itself with festively decorated wooden stalls selling all the gifts and crafts you could wish for. The Glühwein is grown, brewed and produced locally for connoisseurs who only enjoy the best quality and the choice of locally made world famous wines will certainly keep any one else merry.
Koblenz Christmas Market:
Koblenz's traditional Christmas market is held in the picturesque old town, just a stone's throw away from the main shopping street. There will be over 100 festively decorated wooden stalls offering an extensive range of hand-made goods and Christmas decorations, as well as a huge range of seasonal gift ideas. The Koblenz Christmas market is actually one of the largest in the Rhineland-Palatinate wine growing region.
We return by way of the famous wine cellars of Anton Hammes in the village of Alken.
LAST DAY: After breakfast, we travel back through Germany, Belgium and France to Calais for our return to England.
